Celebrating everything that’s great about Dorset food & drink – Love Local Trust Local Awards 2021
Taking place next Tuesday evening are the second Love Local Trust Local Awards, celebrating excellence in food & drink producers in Dorset. Having launched amidst the pandemic last year, the ceremony last year was of course, virtual. In 2021 we are proud to be the only face-to-face food & drink awards ceremony taking place in Dorset this year.
Hosted at the award-winning Langton Arms pub in Tarrant Monkton, Dorset, the awards are the brainchild of the pub’s owner Barbara Cossins. The Love Local Trust Local Food & Drinks Awards feature 12 categories, with a total of 18 awards to be won. Categories cover everything you could want to come out of this food proud county, including Cheese, Dairy, Meat, Fish, Bakery, Drinks, Honey, Jams & Condiments, Fruit & Vegetables, Innovation & Diversity, Conservation & Sustainability and The Rising Star.
Producers that have entered the awards must be Dorset-based, sourcing their ingredients within a 30-mile radius. The judges for this year’s awards want to find out what makes these businesses stand out and what they are doing to truly make a difference. This is a chance for Dorset food and drink producers to truly shine.
The first awards were held in the midst of the pandemic last autumn and LLTL Winners in 2020 included Shanty Seaweed Botanical Vodka, BH Fish, Meggy Moo’s Dairy, Tarrant Valley Honey, Bohemian Dorset, Isaac Cider, Meat Chase Royale, Barbara’s Kitchen, Dorset Blue Vinny, Sweet Indulgent Fancies & Dorset Foodie Feed.
Speakers on the evening will include Jeff Blackett, President of the RFU, former Judge Advocate General of the Armed Forces and a Naval Commodore. Also taking the podium will be Luke Rake, Principal & CEO at Kingston Maurward College, a leading advocate for rural economy at one of the country’s best agricultural and outdoor education colleges.
The menu on the evening will, of course, feature lots of wonderful Dorset food & drink and there are still a few tickets left if you’d like to attend. Only £25 a head and available from the Love Local Trust Local events team at 07831 184920.
The Love Local Trust Local movement was created by farmers in 2018 in order to both recognize, and celebrate the hard work of farmers and other local food producers around them and the annual awards are a great way to help do just that. Love Local Trust Local is also tackling corruption in the food labelling industry, helping to protect Britain’s world-leading food production standards.
Love Local Trust Local – What’s It All About?
Founded by fifth generation farming family, the Cossins’ in Tarrant Valley, Founder Barbara Cossins has made it her mission to ensure that farmers are recognised and represented. Love Local Trust Local was established to educate the consumers on how to trust food labelling, where to look, what it all really means and why shopping local matters. This concern intends to be the go-to food label you can really trust.
These awards really stand apart from others as they have been created by farmers and producers, for farmers and producers, with the main objective being to truly celebrate the work that goes into our local food production here in Dorset.
