The happy winners of the 2021 Love Local Trust Local Awards celebrate in style, & together!
There were a lot of happy faces at the Love Local Trust Local Awards last night. Hosted at The Langton Arms in Tarrant Monkton, more than 120 local food producers, farmers, fishermen and entrepreneurs arrived at the awards evening full of expectation.
The only Dorset food & drink awards to take place as a real event this year, the Love Local Trust Local team threw their hearts & souls into making the second awards a night to remember. Local Dorset food was served to all the guests and each dish had a story of its’ own to tell whether it was the life of a Tarrant Valley pheasant, the creation of Dorset Blue Vinny or the hanging of Rawston Farm beef as part of delivering wonderful flavours in the finished dishes.
There were 14 possible awards to win including Cheese, Dairy, Meat, Fish, Bakery, Drinks, Honey, Jams & Condiments, Fruit & Vegetables, Innovation & Diversity, Conservation & Sustainability, Recognition Award, Champion Award and The Rising Star. The well-deserving winners on the evening were Lizzie The Baking Bird, Winfrith Bakery, Mrs J’s Stuff, Stephen Toop, Cerne Abbas Brewery, Portland Shellfish Ltd, Dorset Goat Meat Company, The Book & Bucket Cheese Company, Madjeston Milk Station, Bee Nice Blooms, Open Air Dairy, Gullivers Farm Shop & Kitchen (2 awards), Weymouth 51 & Restaurant Enfant Terribles.
The awards are loyally sponsored by a lot of Dorset’s small businesses that want to support and strengthen the work of our British farmers, fishermen and food producers. From local solicitors and estate agents to farmers and furniture makers, this is an event full of local Dorset organizations working together to keep our British food industry on the map.
“What a fab evening with great friends & gongs. We had an amazing night – thank you so very much!” Lizzie’s Baking Bird, Winner of the Love Local Trust Local Sweet Baking Award
“Thank you so much, I feel very honoured to have won this wonderful award.” Bee Nice Blooms, Winner of the Love Local Trust Local Flowers, Fruit & Vegetables Award
The Love Local Trust Local movement was created by farmers in 2018 in order to both recognize, and celebrate the hard work of farmers and other local food producers around them and the annual awards are a great way to help do just that. Love Local Trust Local is also tackling corruption in the food labelling industry, helping to protect Britain’s world-leading food production standards.
Love Local Trust Local – What’s It All About?
Founded by fifth generation farming family, the Cossins’ in Tarrant Valley, Founder Barbara Cossins has made it her mission to ensure that farmers are recognised and represented. Love Local Trust Local was established to educate the consumers on how to trust food labelling, where to look, what it all really means and why shopping local matters. This concern intends to be the go-to food label you can really trust.
These awards really stand apart from others as they have been created by farmers and producers, for farmers and producers, with the main objective being to truly celebrate the work that goes into our local food production here in Dorset.
