We have 15 categories for you to choose from, find yours and enter from Sunday, 1st May 2022. If your business is lucky enough to qualify for more than one of our awards, then please enter ALL of them by 5pm on Thursday, 1st September 2022 to be in with a chance to win.

BAKERY

2 Classes – Sweet or Savoury

Do you have baking skills you’d love to show off? Are you producing delicious sweet or savoury treats galore for our Dorset locals? If so, then enter our Bakery awards today.

We are looking for the very best Sweet and Savoury Bakers in Dorset, and we will be awarding a Winner and a Runner-Up for both Sweet and Savoury Bakers. If you produce both sweet and savoury products then you may enter one of your products into each class.

We want to hear the story of how you are sourcing and using your local Dorset ingredients and what truly makes your baking beauty stand out from the crowd. Tell us more about your wonderful bakery creations.

HONEY

Are you a Dorset beekeeper with a passion for producing local honey products? Even if you are a small producer and only making your delicious honey for your lucky local community, we still want to hear from you. What makes your honey stand out from the competition? What are your bee-keeping principles and how do you maintain them? Tell us about your honey, your honey products and your wonderful Dorset business.

CHEESE

Cheese – some amazing, award-winning cheeses are made right here on our Dorset doorstep. We know you are out there so please share the story of your cheese with us.

This award is open to both hard and soft cheeses that are made with either pasteurised or unpasteurised milk. Any added ingredients or flavourings should be natural and wherever possible also sourced from within Dorset. All entries must be produced in Dorset.

DAIRY

Dairy – well-known for its many dairy farmers and amazing dairy products, Dorset has lots to share in this awards class. Are you a local producer of tasty dairy treats and products?

This award is open to all dairy producers for milk, cream, ice-cream, yoghurt & butter. Entries can be made with either pasteurised or unpasteurised milk. Each dairy producer can enter only one dairy product. Any added ingredients or flavourings should be natural and wherever possible, sourced from within Dorset.

FISH

Fish – with one of the longest coastlines in the UK, Dorset has some of the best fish the country has to offer. Do your fishy friends come from our coastal waters and feed the good people of Dorset? Tell us more about your produce and its’ journey to our plates.

Entries must be sourced from fish caught by a Dorset-based crew, using sustainable methods of stock management.

MEAT

Meat – we know that Dorset has some of the very best meat in the whole of the country. Tell us all about your meat, its’ story, provenance and traceability. What makes it taste so good? How do you rear your animals? What makes you stand out from the competition?

Meat entries must be produced from animals that have been reared within Dorset. The animals should be raised by means of good animal husbandry and with plenty of access to outdoor space or pasture.

DORSET DRINKS

1 Class – including non-alcoholic, beer & cider, wine & spirits

Drinks – do you produce a Dorset drink to savour on the tongue? Something to quench the thirst that is all about Dorset and its’ country lifestyle? Tell us what you are brewing or blending this year that tempts the tastebuds of your locals.

We want to hear how you are sourcing and using your local ingredients, and what makes your product stand out from the competition. We will be awarding both a Winner and a Runner-Up for this category – your entry can be Non-Alcoholic, Beer, Cider, Wine or a Spirit.

JAMS 

All the fabulous fruit and vegetables of Dorset often end up in wonderful sweet compliments and jams for our plates. Tell us about your jams, both sweet & savoury, that are created from our fabulous Dorset produce.

We are looking for the best Jams in Dorset and will be awarding a Winner and a Runner-Up for this category. Tell us how you are sourcing and using local Dorset ingredients and which of your creations always keep your customers coming back for more.

CHUTNEYS & CONDIMENTS 

All the fabulous fruit and vegetables of Dorset often end up in wonderful sweet compliments and condiments for our plates. Tell us about your culinary creations, both sweet & savoury, that are created from our fabulous Dorset produce.

We are looking for the best Chutneys & Condiments in Dorset and will be awarding both a Winner and a Runner-Up for this category. Tell us how you are sourcing and using local Dorset ingredients and which of your products keep your customers coming back for more.

Innovation & Diversification  – Is your business independently owned and based in Dorset? Can you demonstrate that your business has taken an opportunity and turned it into a new venture? Share your innovative business idea with us here.

Entrants will be judged on a combination of factors to include, creativity, sustainability and sound business principles.

CONSERVATION & ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

We would love to hear from Dorset farmers, food producers and business owners who have done things differently in order to lessen their impact upon the environment. Is your venture making the world a better place by reducing carbon emissions, reusing offcuts and waste or simply lowering the human impact we have on our countryside.

Entrants will be judged on a combination of factors to include, creativity, sustainability, environmental impact and ethical business principles.

BUSINESS GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT AWARD

Are you a Dorset farmer, fisherman or food producer that is developing your business and really making a mark on Dorset consumers or have you moved your business in a new direction that has proven successful?
